Farewell from the Class of 2009
Dear Gattis Teachers,
Teacher Appreciation Week has come and gone, but we wanted to take this opportunity to do something that Gattis 5th graders have traditionally done every year. Sorry that it is late in coming. Please read and enjoy the following posts! We had a lot of fun walking down memory lane.
Sincerely,
The 5th grade

Dear Ms.Wolfean,
Thank you so much for taking time last year and helping me. You have taught me a lot. I Every time I needed help with something you were there to help me and if I needed some one to talk to you were there. So far you and Mrs.Ludden, and Mrs. Buckles are my favorite teachers in the school because all of you actually explain stuff and talk about it.
I remember when we were doing writing you would always come around and give us hot cheetoes if we had something good on our paper. I hope you still are doing the same thing as well as we did it last year. I enjoyed that very much. I think it was a very good idea because it makes people think more good ideas so they can get more and encouraged them to write more ideas on the paper and not just wonder their eyes and not work.(I know that helped me!!)
Love.
Madison
Dear Mrs. Dawson,
I am writing this letter because I’m writing this letter for teacher appreciation. First I want to say I was really glad I was in your class last year and I made lots of friend back then even you. When it was the end of the school year I felt really sad. I had to leave all that that behind but I remembered that one of my classmate was a trouble maker, it was really hard to ignore but he was still really funny. You taught me a lot of things that help me in fourth grade like multiplication, geometry, place value and more. You were my number one teacher then. Even my parents adore you. I would still remember you when I go to Ridgeview.
Sincerely,
Lisa
Dear, Ms. Harvey
I enjoyed all of the fun games and videos! I also enjoyed playing instruments. My favorite game was telephone I remember that the last person to say what they heard it was a really funny sentence or word! You also helped me learn more about music and in a really fun way. I am kind of sad to be leaving to middle school because we will not have specials (music)
You have been one of the best music teachers ever
Thank you for all you done,
Alyssa Pacheco
Dear Mrs. Gibson,
Thank you so much for all the teaching you gave me. I just wish I could be in your class again because I don’t think I reached my full potential. But when I was in your class I had a lot of trouble with math and all that other stuff. But thanks for al the support. I will always remember you even during middle and high school. =D
Sincerely,
Janelle
Dear Ms. George,
Thank you for letting me come and help you and a student. I enjoyed coming so much to see every one in the class. She has learned so much and has progressed in learning so much. When ever its Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday I’m exited to come and help you.
I hope to come visit all of you since I’m not going to be here next year and won’t get to see all of you. I’m going to miss all of you so much. I enjoy you all so much!!!!! I hope all of you do well next year!!
Love,
Maddie
Dear Mrs. Sanford,
Thank you for being there for me when I needed you and helping me stay on track while doing my work in kindergarten because we were so young and wild I bet it was hard to make us concentrate and get us to do are work wasn’t it. One big memory is when me and Taylor would always go to the nurse together[so you say but I don’t remember it being all the time] and Mrs. Teresa would call us her twin devils! So thank you again!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS. Rose are red violets are blue panties are white and so are you! Just a little joke for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
Love your student ,
jennifer
Dear Mrs. Gipson,
I remember you she spent 50 bucks to get us Hershey, and so that we learn fractions from Hershey. Thank you for buying things to play games so that we could learn fractions. You are my favorite teacher so far.
Love, Hyunbin
Dear Mrs.Etheredge,
I thank you a lot for letting me help and play games with your students.
Each and every one of your students was great. I enjoyed working with you so much!
I had a great and fabulous time with your class and you.
Thank You and Love,
Zalyssa
Dear Mrs. Wallingford
I want to thank you for everything you have done in the library and letting me have a good time at my job and giving me time to turn in my late library books. I had a good time working over there at the library fixing the labels and ill try to get over there before school ends. There are a lot of cool books in the library and I want to thank you for getting them. My favorite book in the library is diary of wimpy kid. I’ve read the first and second book. I’m planning on reading it next year and yes I’ll read over the summer. I don’t know how many books I’ll read but I will. You know I still remember when you kept on calling me Avery my best friend lol.
Sincerely
jared
Dear Mrs. Murry
I am so sad that I am leaving the school and you. I have had some good times with you and I wish you could teach sixth grade. I remember when we had ice day it was assume. We brought In ice and actually made a ice castle. I just remember we dye the ice I will be moving on but I still have my memories. I hope to see you around camps a couple of times
Love Evan
Dear Mrs. McCollum
Thank you so much for preparing me for 5th grade. This year has been a breeze. You helped me ace my math TAKS test. I still wish I was in your class, I had so much fun. I don’t want to leave Gattis Elementary, it’s been a long 6 years. With the help from you and all my other teachers I’m proud to say im going on to 6th grade. I have to say you are my favorite teacher that I’ve had.
Love,
Gwynn
Dear Mrs. Melson,
I love you and will hate having to leave. Every time you smile and hug me, I fell like I’m in heaven. It was terribly sad when I had to leave just your class, but now as I leave this school all together, tears come to my eyes as I realize I’ll be leaving you. So, thanks for teaching me, your little numbskull. You taught me something every day, even when I’d left your class. So leaving feels like my heart will stay here, and I’ll be but an empty shell. You’re an amazing teacher, and I’ll miss you every day.
Love, your numbskulled hard headed, caring student,
Alee
Dear Mrs. Gibson,
I really appreciate you for teaching me so much last year. You helped me make the leap to 5th grade now I’m going to 6th ready for anything. I got better in all subjects and continue to improve till’ this day. I had many good memories in this class, all around the campus. A lot of fun, learning, and laughter in your class so I have to thank you very much!
Thanks Again,
Your old student Daniel
Dear Mrs. McCollum,
I am disappointed that I am leaving Gattis next year. I will always miss you and all the thing that you did for me and
All the things that we did. But the best project that I liked the best was when we experimented: “how two make an egg float”.
I will always remember you, and miss you.
Love,
Kara Barfield
Dear Mr. Brillhart,
It has been so much fun these two years, learning and playing fun games. I have also met many great friends and found out about so many games. I always look forward to going to your class because you are always so funny, and you always give fun and funny assignments (sometimes a trick). We do group competitions on holidays that have to do with math (like pi day). I wish you could move on to Ridgeview with us and continue teaching us. I will really miss you.
Sincerely,
Alonso
Mrs.Dawson
Thank you for letting me help you class at library I had a great time checking and checking out you students. I am going to miss you at the library! I know it was a little bit of time but, I really loved your class and you!
Love and Thanks,
Zalyssa
P.S. Little Librarian
Dear Mrs. Miller
Thank you for being the best 1st Grade teacher I’ve had. I remember when we had the Indian play, that was the first time I learned about the Indians teaching the pilgrims how to grow corn. I hope my grandma still helps your students. I hope I see you again!
Sincerely,
Grant,
Dear Ms. Healy,
You are the best P.E teacher in my life. You have expanded my goals dramatically in pushups, curl ups, and running. I am much more flexible then I have ever been. I can jump 7 inches higher then before. Thanks to you I have grown to love P.E. I loved the field day, because it was possible with your help. You are so helpful that my sister wants to become a P.E. teacher when she grows up. Thank you for being my P.E. Teacher.
Dear Mrs. Hoard,
Thank you so much for being an awesome fourth grade writing teacher. I have learned many writing skills from you. I improved a lot in writing by having you my writing teacher last year, because of you my grades in writing went up. One day I wrote a story for the Hoardly Times newspaper and I got a four on it. If I would have written this before you taught our class in writing I probably wouldn’t get as good of a grade as I got.
Sincerely, Dasha
Dear Mrs.Melson,
No I am not writing this to confirm to you that you are an alien, (because you are not) I am writing this to tell you how much I appreciated you being such an awesome teacher at Gattis. If I got stuck in somebody else’s class, I don’t think I would’ve had as good of a year. (No offense other first grade teachers.) I remember one day in class, we got to make the ground for science using crumbled up Oreo’s, chocolate pudding, and gummy worms. That made me, as a first grader, very excited to get a treat like that. It’s fun to be able to see your first grade teacher in the hall and all sudden start joking around. By the way if you didn’t already know, I think my friends have figured out you are NOT AN ALIEN! ( you probably already knew that though.) I loved being in your class and I think that was really good for me to have such a great teacher. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for being awesome!
Your old student,
Lyric
Dear Mr. Brillhart
Thank you so much for teaching me about everything we learned in T.A.G (such as adding fractions). I really think the way you teach is really cool, like when we got to use Hot wheels™ for a project. I really think that you really challenge us (which is really good), and I think that next year we’ll do awesome. When you said that you’ll make sure you’ll help direct us, I felt good. Thank you very much!
Sincerely your student,
Joshua
Dear Mrs. Murry,
I am writing to you hoping this will be the last massage you will receive. According to what you said all those years ago you should be about 106 years old now, to old to live. Of course I’m joking but you get the point. Anyway I just want to thank you for shaping my life and heading me down a good path and for well how fun and great you were throughout not just kindergarten but my entire six years here at Gattis. Of all teachers here I will defiantly remember you throughout my entire life. Thank you for making my stay a Gattis great.
Sincerely,
Zachary your loving x-student
Dear Mr. Touchet, You are absolutely funny and awesome! I think that you are one of the best music teachers that I have ever had and Miss. Harvey of course. Remember when you told us the 1st week of school you said, “You guys are the cows and I’m the electrical bob wire and If you guys get out of line or do something wrong (in other words for cows try to go pass the electrical bob wire) I will electrocute you so much to where you wont do anything else wrong or something like that ha! I love the way you take the time to explain things to us, I really appreciate that because last year that man didn’t even care about us or his job so sad ,so very sad. I’m glad that you were here at Gattis Elementary while I was here this year in 5th grade. You and my mommy get along so well and I agree that we do to a lot. Mr. Touchet you’re an awesome music teacher your great.
Love, Jordan

Dear Mrs. Hendry,
I had a lot of fun this whole year with you.
My favorite project with you was the clay although mine broke. Let’s just hope that you have a great summer because it is coming up. I want to see you working in Ridgeview, but you might not be able to. Thanks for all the teaching you gave my class and I and I hope you have a great year
Sincerely, janelle
Dear Miss. Wolfean,
Thank you for helping me through fourth grade. Some people thought that you were just a teacher but I say that you are like a sister or a friend. The best things that we did in your class were all the parties and writing the poems. ROSES ARE RED VIOLETS ARE BLUEYOUR FACE IS RED SO WHY ARE YOU CRYING!!!!!!
We did tons of fun things in your class but there were very little things were boring.
No affiance but all teachers have boring things to do. I still remember the day that you played a mean trick on Mrs. Shelby about her hating clowns!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your old student,
Hailey
Dear Mrs. Thomas,
Second grade was fun. Thank you so much for all you have given me and what you have given was potential. I really liked being in you class I made so many friends there because it was my only 2nd year and I didn’t have many friends but now look at me I am in 5th grade and I have so many friends so thank you so much I repeat and I hope you have a great summer.
Sincerely,
janelle
Dear Mrs. Duckworth,
Remember that day we were playing with water balloons and everyone tried getting you, but they couldn’t? I was the only one left carrying a water balloon. You told me, “Please give me the water balloon.” And I threw it at you and got you wet!
In conclusion, I had a great year in 2nd grade and I’m sad to leave for Middle School. I’ve had many achievements over the years; TAG, perfect attendance all year, great grades, and commended on all TAKS in 5th grade. I have been segregated from many friends, but I’ve been making new ones.
It was a wonderful year in 2nd grade when you were my teacher. Thank you so much for teaching me back then. I learned a lot. I still remember those stories in the book and the test we had to take comprehending what we read. I also remember show and tell along with the day we had guacamole.
Aside from that; I know how much you enjoy frogs still. You also taught us the r in sign language along with, “moi moi soffa”. (much much better). The Arthur campout was fun. The tents were set out, and the (smores?) that we made. The movie days were fun with the fake money we could use to buy food & toys in our class “store”. Eating in the room was always fun, too. Thank you for teaching me. You made learning completely fun. Can you believe it was 3 years ago that I was in your class? I know I can’t believe it’s been that long.
Best wishes,
Brooke
Dear Mrs. McCollum,
Thanks for giving me a great 4th grade year! I’ll miss you next year! Remember when last year, when we used chocolate bars to figure out fractions? That was fun and tasty too! And when, at the beginning of the year, when we got all new supplies? They were so unused, and all the pencils were unsharpened. And we had that kickball tournament, on fun field day. And I was in TAG, morning and during recess, so I wasn’t in the classroom a lot. And when we had the ice cream party, and watched March of the Penguins. That was a sad movie, but I liked the little baby penguins. Well, I’ll miss Gattis, but I have Ridgeview to look forward to!
ByeBye!!! <3
Dear Mrs. Murry,
Mrs. Murry you are the best kinder garden teacher ever. You were an awesome teacher. I learned a lot of life long stuff. I’ll try to come and visit you later next year. I will miss you and Gattis. I was so lucky to have you for a kinder garden teacher.
LOVE,
Rosie

Dear Mrs. McCollum,
Thanks so much for being an awesome switch teacher! I miss being in you’re class, but you teached me a lot about math and science. Especially my math facts! Thank you so so so so much!
Dear Mrs. Duckworth,
You were a great 2nd grade teacher! I liked when we dissected the owl pellets! That was sooooooooooo awesome!
Dear Mr. Tochet,
You were my music teacher for a few years, but next year you’re going to be a fifth grade teacher? But you were a totally cool music teacher! Well… I’m not going to be here next year. But oh well! And thanks for teaching me color guard!
Dear Mrs. Healy,
I have been in you’re class a few times too, and I loved being in you’re class. When I was in forth grade I didn’t know how to play tether ball, but now I do! Thanks for being such a great P.E. teacher!
Dear Mrs. Alls,
Thank you for being my P.E. teacher last year and teaching me safety patrol this year. It was fun when we got to get treats (and I can’t wait till the pizza party!) But the most fun was remembering kids names so when you would see their car you would automatically get that person
Love, Carli B.
P.S. I’m going to miss you all so so so so so so so sooo much next year, I might be crying over the summer!
DEAR MRS. Acaiturri
Thank you for making learning fun and helping me get through the 3rd grade. I remember when you came to one of my softball games and watched me play I really liked that you took time to do that!!!!!!!!!
Love,
Jennifer
Dear Mrs. Melson,
I really had fun in your class in first grade. I appreciate that you taught me what I needed to learn for second grade. It is a shame that you can’t teach at Ridgeview next year unless you want to surprise the kids that were in your class that is going to go to Ridgeview. Because of you I learned easy fractions that helped me during TAG and other classes. You were probably my favorite teacher I’ve had.
Sincerely,
Kanji
Dear, Mrs.Wallingford
Thank you for everything you are one of the best librarians I’ve ever had you are always so patient with everybody. One specific memory I have is one day I was there and we had to put those cardboard book holders it was so funny because we couldn’t figure it out but we finally made it. Thank you
Love,
Jacob Adcock
Dear Ms. Drews,
I would like to thank you for everything you do. Even though teacher appreciation week is over you still deserve a thank you. You were my first grade teacher and I really enjoyed being in your class. Thank you for everything you’ve done to help me and get me through first grade. You have to be one of my most favorite teachers here and I’ll really miss Gattis and you when I leave for Ridgeview. I would also like to thank you for being my pitching coach this year. It’s been a great privilege.
I remember that when I was in your class we would sometimes sit in a little group and read one of my favorite books back then, Junie B. Jones. It was fun in the first grade. Thank you for making it such a great year and getting me to where I am now.
Sincerely,
Cassie Boehler

Dear Miss. Wolfean,
You are undeniably, the best writing teacher I’ve ever had, and I just wanted to say thanks. I felt so proud of myself when you read my Shark story and said “Oh My God! This is GREAT! Can I read this to the other class?” Before that, I never really liked to write. I really liked my time in your class, and I wish you were my writing teacher for ever.
Sincerely,
Jacob Yehl

Dear Mrs. Dybdahl,
Third grade was awesome! Especially the kick ball game.
You taught me a lot in math like multiplication. Taking out bones from the owl pellets but a little bit disgusting. Even though I got a 75% on the reading Taks test I have been progressing after you taught me every thing I needed to know for forth grade.
Sincerely,
Anthony.

Hello Jared and Jacob,
What wonderful memories you have brought to my mind! I will always remember you, Jared…or is it Avery…?!? because you always smiled and were so kind when I messed up your name. Trying to learn 650 names fast is tough, but you never gave up on me. And remember, never give up on yourself. You are an awesome young man and I expect great things from you.
Jacob, I remember the incident exactly as you described it. I knew we would get those boxes assembled somehow, but your encouragement made the difference! Always remember to encourage others and it will come back to you ten times better.
Thank you to both of you for taking the time out of your busy day to write such organized, sincere thoughts about my first year at Gattis. I only wish that you weren’t in 5th grade so that I could get to know you better. I can tell you’re both first class guys! Best to you, Mrs. Wallingford
Jennifer,
I will miss you next year. You were a great student and lots of fun! Come and visit when you can. Roses are red violets are blue, I sure will miss you!
Love,

Have an awesome summer!
Thank you so much for the nice letter or blog I guess you call it!

Dear Ms. Acaiturri,
Thank you for being my 3rd grade teacher. You were very nice to me when

When I was in your class, I liked reading the books in the classroom. I like the way you dress. I hope you can visit me during summer break sometime. Thanks for being very nice to me even though I’m in 5th grade.
